UNESCO World Heritage Branding

The goal of this project is to develop a cohesive and strong brand identity for a chosen UNESCO world heritage site. The site chosen for my project was Tassili N’ajjer national park in Algeria: a vast expanse of “lunar landscape” with stunning rock formations, cave art, and sand dunes.

Brochure Front and Back Cover

The background imagery is used as a means of drawing in the viewer and encouraging them to engage with the content within. The strong sense of organization allows for the heavy use of blank space behind the text, aiding in the sense of a vast, expansive landscape. The imagery is stylized to create contrast from the background and to aid in the element of mystery, urging the viewer to uncover the beautiful nature of this park themselves.

Brochure Inside Content

The use of type in the front cover draws comparisons to the open space and stone formations while engaging the viewer with the stunning natural beauty of the background imagery. The logo is placed simply in the corner with minimal text, allowing the imagery to shine. The back cover also exemplifies the theme of open space surrounding the topographic map element, guiding the viewer in either direction to each piece of information.

Logo Design

The logo is a simple yet effective design that conveys the park’s natural beauty through form and color. The English text reflects the bold rugged nature of the park, while the Arabic text draws a visual comparison to the rocky forms present in the design. All of these elements come together to create a visually stunning logo that effectively conveys the spirit of the locale.

Stationary Package

In the stationary package, it was important to convey the sense of open space that I created through the use of white that interacting with large open spaces and rock formation graphics in the designs. The choice of color palette reflects the theme and feeling of the desert without being a direct copy and paste of the colors found within the landscape.
